Eve - The Arrival

February 25, 2024 10:55 AM

The wait is over! Eve arrived in Karachi yesterday evening, and I picked her up from Raza's late that night. While she not Enzo, she certainly has her own unique personality. It's taking her some time to adjust to her new surroundings – she tenses up when I pick her up, a sign she's not fully comfortable yet. But she licks my hands and gets cozy on my lap, which is reassuring. I've fiddled around with puppies my whole life, and nibbling never bothered me, but her teeth are really sharp – that nibble actually hurt!

Having a female dog is differentit's a new experience for me. She definitely seems more cautious and takes her time building trust, which feels "female" to me. But it's just her first day, so I shouldn't be judging too harshly. She definitely smells ugh and has some dirt from the travel, so I'm tempted to give her a bath before lunch. Maybe a bath will reveal her hidden unicorn horn, but I'm pretty sure she's already magical.

Now that she's here, I can focus on other things again, like getting back on track with my career. Need to dedicate at least 6, maybe 8 hours a day to make the most of this opportunity.

Speaking of priorities, I am grateful for the people around me. A big shoutout to Raza. Finding the perfect breeder and arranging the delivery – he was a huge help. And being the General Secretary South of Gundog Club of Pakistan? Talk about a knowledge bank! His expertise will be invaluable for giving Eve the best life possible.

Also, Eve's breeder, Irfan Mughal. His dedication to the breed and methodical approach to raising puppies is impressive, especially considering his success in competitions with Eve's father. His experience and advice will be valuable as I raise Eve and help her reach her full potential.

My vision for Eve? A well-rounded companion and an asset to my life. I plan to train her in basic good citizenship and explore basic therapy training. Activities like target practice, object retrieval, and nose-work will tap into her natural sniffing skills. Of course, I'll be open to exploring other programs based on her interests and aptitudes.

Plans fail, but one can aspire. And as we embark on this journey together, one day, one sniff, one cuddle at a time, who knows what possibilities await?

just a random thought occurred a while back. Could it be possible that mother's and father's genes are also competing to pass on their unique style of doing things. This must be why sometimes some traits are
